Respected Sir,

It is understood through print and visual media that you are visiting Kerala State to enquire about the law and order problems in Kerala. In this context I submit the following facts for your most sympathetic consideration.
I am the President of Eranholi Grama Panchayat in Kannur District of Kerala State and my family include my husband, an autoriksha driver by profession, and son aged 12 years and my husband’s aged ailing parents. We are leading a peaceful life with the earnings of my husband who is the main breadwinner. My husband is plying his auto from Nayanar Road which is hardly one kilometer from residence. He has been engaged in his work for the past 15 years from the same place. He is known to everybody around the place and keeps good relation with the local people.
On 03-07-2017 at about 2 PM he was awaiting passengers in his vehicle, when a group of RSS goons dragged from auto and attacked my husband from all sides prohibiting escape. Swords, axes and other mortal weapons were profusely used in the attack in broad daylight. He fell down on the ground in a pool of blood and muddy water around the vehicle. None of the person who saw this dastardly attack was dared to intervene fearing for their life. The goondas left thinking that my husband was dead. Only after this people rushed to the spot and carried him to the nearest hospital and from there on their advise the patient was taken to Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikkode for intensive care. There is no place in my husband’s body free from major cuts. Immediately on arrival at Baby memorial hospital surgeries were performed. So far 7 surgeries were performed on him lasting for 45 hours; still two more surgeries need be performed on him for injuries. His liver has also been damaged seriously. Even now his survival is in doubt.
The location where my husband was brutally attacked is the border of Eranholi Panchayat. RSS has not much influence in and around the area. For the past six months there were many attacks on CPIM sympathizers and activists. Two attempts on the life of my husband was made earlier. The present one was the third one against him. Till date there has never been occasion for any criminal case against my husband or myself. The people will vouch that we were conducting only peaceful political activities. The incident took place just one hour before the scheduled district level monthly bilateral peace talks to take place at Kannur.
All the attackers are active RSS workers well known to my husband and police have registered case against them. 5 of them have been arrested so far and the others are still absconding.
I am hoping that the Hon. Minister will intervene and use your good office with RSS leadership to desist from mortal attacks on peace loving people in future. I also request you to visit my husband who is in the hospital for the last 33 days in a very critical condition.
