“Yoga brings peace to our universe….” a powerful speech by PM Modi during Mysore palace celebrations.

The International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21st to celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess it has brought to the global stage. The date was chosen by the UN general assembly in 2015 after PM Modi proposed it as being the longest day of the year also marked as the beginning of the summer solstice.  As a true Yoga Sadhaka (a practitioner of yoga), PM Modi has been at the forefront of organizing mass gatherings and addressing the public on this occasion.

Through Twitter, PM announced ‘Yoga for humanity’ as the theme for the 8th International Yoga day celebrations held at the iconic heritage site, Mysuru palace in Karnataka.  This year’s event was a gala affair attended by around 15,000 yoga enthusiasts along with union and cabinet ministers after a long gap of two years owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of the event, PM highlighted the importance of yoga asanas and how it has now become a global phenomenon. “The peace from Yoga is merely not for individuals. Yoga brings peace to our society. It brings peace to our nations and the world, and Yoga brings peace to our universe”, PM Modi said earlier today. “This whole universe starts from our own body and soul. The universe starts from us. And, Yoga makes us conscious of everything within us and builds a sense of awareness” he added.

Today’s Mysuru affair concluded on a good note after the PM greeted all those who participated in the 8th edition of international Yoga day celebrations 2022.
