Lokesh Kanagaraj’s magnum opus, Vikram has finally entered the 400-crore club worldwide. This multi-starrer movie featuring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil completed 25 days at the box office and has managed to collect approximately Rs. 409 crores this weekend. After Rajnikanth’s 2.0, it is the only Tamil film to achieve this milestone. Movie Industry tracker and trade analyst, Ramesh Babu was the first to announce this feat on Sunday.
Produced by Hassan and Mahendran under the banner of Raaj Kamal films international, Vikram is the second-highest-grossing Kollywood film which opened at Rs. 164.75 crores in the first week followed by Rs. 72.50 crores in the week 2. The film is all set to hit the OTT platforms, Disney+ and hotstar on July 8th.
Recently, an event was held in Chennai, celebrating the film’s success which was attended by Kamal Hassan, Udhyanishi Stalin, Anirudh Ravichander, and the director himself. The action-thriller movie has been shattering many records ever since it was released. In another tweet, Ramesh Bala wrote, “In Tamil Nadu #Vikram has become the highest-grossing Tamil film in history as it beats the numbers of #VISWASAM.”
Revealing his future film plans, Lokesh Kanagaraj said that he has already started working on the next movie. Owing to the pandemic, he was able to take time to write the story and plot for Vikram, he added.
