Police arrest three in Kannur for gang rape of a married Tamil woman by spiking her juice with drugs. Arrested by Kannur city police are a woman relative of the victim, a male relative, and a Kasaragod youth.
They were identified as the wife of the victim’s uncle Malar, Kanhangad native Vijesh, and Vijesh’s friend who is a Kasaragod native and recognizable by the victim. The culprits are all scrap sellers who collect their ware from around the town.
The victim lives in Chalai. On Saturday, the accused aunt, Malar, arrived at her home and led her to a place for work. While the two returned from work, Malar asked the victim into her house in Kanjira and then insisted it was a late hour and that she stay over, instead of returning to Chailai.
After some time, Malar offered lime juice to the victim which, unknown to her, was mixed with drugs. The victim soon fell asleep. That’s when Vijesh and his friend raped her, the victim told police.
