The Chief Minister of Pak Punjab, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi suspended police officials and other personnel after video confession of Imran Khan’s shooter was released to public. In the recorded confession, the culprit is heard saying he’wanted to kill Imran Khan’ because he ‘was misleading people’. The alleged shooter said he acted alone.
Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was shot Thursday as his protest convoy passed through Punjab province. In the media footage of the assassination attempt, Khan is seen waving from an open-topped truck outside the town of Gujaranwala when suddenly, shots ring out and his party members duck for cover. A bullet strikes Khan in the lower log.
Khan is receiving treatment at a hospital in Lahore where his condition is said to be stable. The shooter was arrested at the scene and had in his possession, a 9mm pistol and two empty magazines. Several persons were injured in the incident and one succumbed to bullet wounds. The shooter’s confession was released by state ministry on Thursday.
