ധനമന്ത്രി കെ എൻ ബാലഗോപാൽ സഞ്ചരിച്ച കാർ അപകടത്തിൽപ്പെട്ടു. വാമനപുരത്ത് വെച്ചാണ് കാര്‍ അപകടത്തില്‍പെട്ടത്. മന്ത്രി പരിക്കുകളില്ലാതെ രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു. പിന്നീട് പുറകിൽ നിന്നുമെത്തിയെ സ്റ്റീഫൻ എംഎൽഎയുടെ കാറിലാണ് മന്ത്രി തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തേക്ക് എത്തിയത്.

ടാറ്റ നെക്സോണ്‍ കാറാണ് മന്ത്രിയുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക വാഹനത്തില്‍ വന്നിടിച്ചത്. പിന്നാലെ വെഞ്ഞാരമൂട് പൊലീസ് സ്ഥലത്തെത്തി. വാഹനത്തിലെ ഡ്രൈവറെ കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പിന്നാലെ ഇയാളെ വിട്ടയച്ചു. ഇന്നലെ രാത്രി 10:15 നായിരുന്നു അപകടം നടന്നത്.

കൊട്ടാരക്കരയില്‍ നിന്ന് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തേക്ക് വരവേയാണ് അപകടം. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് നിന്ന് ഇലന്തൂരിലേക്ക് പോകുകയായിരുന്ന കാര്‍ അതേദിശയില്‍ സഞ്ചരിച്ചിരുന്ന കാറിനെ മറികടക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചപ്പോ‍ഴാണ് എതിരെ വന്ന മന്ത്രിയുടെ കാറില്‍ ഇടിച്ചത്.
